Official: Earthquake causes no damage to Akkuyu power plant

MOSCOW, Feb 6 (PRIME) – Shocks with magnitude 3 were registered on the site of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant construction in Turkey, but no damage was seen, General Director of Russia's Akkuyu Nuclear Anastasia Zoteyeva said on Monday.

"We were very worried by information about the earthquake that occurred today in the early hours of the morning in central Turkey,” the official said.

“Underground shocks of about 3 degree magnitude were registered here, on the Akkuyu site, but experts have not found damage to the building, structures, cranes, and equipment."

According to Zoteyeva, the company was assessing the state of the construction site in order to find out which work could be performed safely.
